Week3 Sessions is currently only being offered as a webinar.  We had previously offered classroom and webinar sessions, but have found the webinar to fit everyone's busy schedule more easily.  If we find interest in having classroom sessions in the future, we would gladly bring them back.  Please submit any questions or issues to Week3 Registrations.

Event Title

Creating a Client Portal in SharePoint 2010

Event Description

This session provides a review of features and improvements in SharePoint 2010 and its use as a client and project management portal.  This session will feature High Monkey's new portal High Monkey Extreme (aka HMX) built around SharePoint 2010 (beta).  High Monkey has been using SharePoint MOSS 2007 as a client project management portal since it was first released.  HMX is a significant upgrade.
The HMX portal simplifies the management of multiple projects for our clients within a single portal.  The major feature of the HMX portal is the management of project level requirements, documents, tasks, and other project information while providing roll-ups to the client level site.  Roll-ups for all client sites are also provided for the top-level High Monkey Project Management site.  Much of the task management is taking advantage of SharePoint 2010s Business Data Connectivity, which allows us to store the data in a separate SQL database.  This helps with sharing information as well as providing much improved reporting capabilities.  On a similar note, communication between High Monkey and clients has been improved by a simplified process for pushing project updates and announcements to clients.  The HMX portal also takes advantage of improved document center technology and meta-data management features.
Come prepared with questions and topics of interests to discuss. If you have questions during the session, please make sure you have a microphone connected to your computer. You can also use the chat feature of Live Meeting to ask questions or you can Twitter your questions to www.twitter.com/TweetWeek3.
This month's presenter will Virgil Carrol.  As president of High Monkey, Virgil speaks all around the world on the business side of SharePoint technologies and how to keep business as the main focus on any implementation project. The recent past Virgil has presented at the SharePoint Best Practices conferences in Washington DC, San Diego, and London as he continues to spread the important message of keeping business first.
